A Global Moment of Peace

Inspired by the Institute of HeartMath, the Global Coherence Initiative and many others, I am inviting everyone I know to share in A Global Moment of Peace, Wed. May 12 at 8 pm CDT.

Just as each strand of cardiac muscle fiber does its work on its own, but in coordination with all the others creates a powerful push of love and energy around the body, so goes our human experience on the planet. As we join together in unified purpose of intention, we create a wave of peace and love that circulates around the whole world. On Wed. May 12 at 8 pm CDT simply pause, where ever you are at that moment and hold a feeling of care and gratitude in the area of your heart for whatever you hold dear. It is that feeling of care, of "heart-felt" gratitude and compassion that creates the energy of peace. Will you please share this with everyone you know so we can create a powerful wave of peace all around the planet?

Follow this link to a beautiful video created by HeartMath for Earth Day. Let's continue the wave of peace begun on that day!

What is meditation?

Most everyone has some notion of what they think meditation is, being tangled up in a lotus position and chanting, being in a trance, using prayer beads or a rosary. These are simply tools which help us to reach the actual intention which is awareness, presence, peace. Meditation is just a word and as such is just a pointer or a signpost. It points us to the intention, but it is not the intention. You may prefer the words prayer or contemplation, but know that the intention behind all of these is simply to find a tool, a method or a technique to allow yourself to "be at peace".

The first and most important things to know about meditation are that you CAN meditate, it is an easy as breathing and most of all, you cannot do it wrong. Quoting Richard from Texas in Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray Love, "When you set the pure intention to meditate, what happens next is none of your business".

Is there a time, a place or an activity you already have where you feel peaceful? Do you allow yourself to enjoy a sunrise or sunset, to appreciate a flower or a piece of music and while you do, you lose track of time and just feel peace? This is what we mean when we say the word meditate. This is the feeling we intend to expand upon.

Share this website and the date, Wed. May 12th at 8pm central with everyone you know. Together, we are the change we choose to see.
